Our brand DBUDGWLTEAWARE was officially founded in 2023 by Nicholas Antonio Lopez, a lifelong tea enthusiast dedicated to bringing thoughtful, high-quality daily tea rituals to households across North America.
The inspiration for our brand took root in 2023. At an international tea culture and specialty goods expo in New York, Nicholas first experienced a fine porcelain teaware set from Dehua, Fujian, China — a region renowned as the “Porcelain Capital of the East” with over 1,000 years of ceramic craftsmanship heritage. He was immediately struck by how the smooth, high-density ceramic perfectly retained heat to enhance the aroma and flavor of loose-leaf tea, elevating a simple daily cup into a refined, intentional moment. What surprised him most was the exceptional value: this meticulously crafted, food-safe set cost just a fraction of the price of comparable premium teaware lines widely sold in the U.S. market.
This eye-opening experience revealed a critical gap in the North American teaware market. Consumers were forced to choose between two extremes: overpriced luxury teaware brands that put quality craftsmanship out of reach for most everyday tea lovers, and low-cost, mass-produced products with inconsistent quality, untested food-safe materials, and little regard for sustainable production. There was no accessible option for people seeking safe, well-crafted, fairly priced teaware that could turn daily tea time into a meaningful, enjoyable ritual.
To fill this gap, Nicholas embarked on an 18-month deep dive into the global ceramic teaware industry. Between 2024 and late 2025, he traveled to Dehua, Fujian four times, visiting more than 30 professional ceramic factories. He audited every step of the production process: from ethically sourced raw kaolin clay and traditional handcraft techniques, to strict food-safety quality control and eco-friendly manufacturing standards. After extensive research, rigorous product testing, and in-depth partnership discussions, he found his ideal long-term partner: Yiqi Yunhua, a professional teaware brand under Fujian Dehua Yunhua Ceramics Co., Ltd.
With decades of expertise in Dehua’s iconic porcelain-making heritage, Yiqi Yunhua honors traditional intangible cultural heritage craftsmanship while adopting modern, sustainable production systems. All of its products strictly comply with U.S. FDA food contact material safety standards, delivering exceptional craftsmanship and consistent quality at an accessible price — exactly the “superb quality, fair value” promise Nicholas set out to bring to North America. In 2026, Nicholas secured an exclusive strategic cooperation agreement with Yiqi Yunhua, becoming its official authorized distributor in North America, and officially launched the DBUDGWLTEAWARE brand.
